This ‘Curriculum Blog’ is a place for you to get and exchange information about lesson plans found in the ‘Monarchs and More’ curriculum guide and elsewhere. We want to hear about your experiences, ideas, and recommendations. As a former teacher and environmental educator, I am honored to host this blog, but will be counting on you and other teachers Louise Hill of Horace Mann Elementary in Washington, DC to share your thoughts and suggestions.
To kick off the blog, I first wish to mention the Monarch ‘life cycle’ and ‘migration’ curriculum workshops that Louise Hill facilitated, respectively, on August 28th and September 11, 2010 for us at Horace Mann. Thanks you, Louise! The level of enthusiasm she generated was palpable, as evidenced in this photo taken at the migration workshop. Louise let participating teachers (‘her students’ for the day) use the materials she has developed to fully engage her students, including puppet-like figures to demonstrate each stage of the Monarch life cycle. Congratulations to Louise for share her creative ideas and enthusiasm! We hope to repeat the two workshops again in September 2011.
