Why the Monarch?

The Monarch butterfly is a creature that tends to inspire all who come close to it. The product of a magical metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly, the Monarch's natural beauty and remarkable migratory journey capture the imagination of children and adults alike. But its habitat is seriously threatened, and we believe it is time to act and involve children (who are literally the Earth’s heirs) to turn the situation around. Currently, the fact of the matter is that:

Over 6,000 acres of Monarch milkweed habitat is vanishing every day due to urban sprawl and use of herbicides on farmlands.

Mexican highlands

Half of Monarch’s winter habitat has already been destroyed due to illegal logging and the destructive process continues largely unabated.
